Horse Barns That Treat Your Horses Right

A horse barn isn't a generic shed with stalls dropped in. A Triton horse barn is designed around the way horses actually live — quiet, well-ventilated stalls; safe footing in the aisles; tack and feed rooms positioned for the daily routine; and engineered steel framing that won't warp, sag, or trap moisture against the horses. Center-aisle, shed-row, raised-center-aisle, and L-shape layouts available.

Built around the daily routine

Every horse owner has a morning and evening routine: feed, turnout, muck, water, repeat. A barn that fights that routine wears out the people in it. We design the tack room near the wash bay, the feed room near the aisle entrance, and the wash bay where the natural drainage falls — not where the framing happened to land.

  • 12' × 12' stalls (standard)or 14' × 14' for warmbloods and draft horses
  • 12'+ aisle widthstwo horses can pass safely; a tractor fits for mucking
  • Tack and feed roomslockable, lined, and ventilated separately
  • Wash bay drainagesloped concrete to a centered floor drain

Ventilation that protects equine respiratory health

Horses are extremely sensitive to ammonia and dust. A poorly vented barn causes RAO (heaves) and chronic respiratory issues. Our barns include open ridge vents, large sliding end doors, and louvered gable ends sized to the cubic footage — moving air the way a healthy barn needs to.

Optional finishes for show and boarding barns

Wood-look steel kickboards. Powder-coated stall fronts and sliding stall doors. Rubber mats over concrete in aisles. Cupolas, weather vanes, and traditional roof lines that satisfy both equestrian buyers and county aesthetic boards.

FAQs

Common Questions About Horse Barns

What stall size do you recommend?

12' × 12' is the industry standard. We recommend 14' × 14' for warmbloods, drafts, and broodmares. 10' × 10' works for ponies but feels tight on a 16+ hand horse.

Can I add a hay loft?

Yes — but most modern equestrian programs build a separate hay barn for fire safety and respiratory health. We'll design either way.

What about insulation?

Insulation is optional. In cold climates, closed-cell spray foam against the roof deck is excellent. In warm climates, ventilation matters more than insulation.

Can I have a riding arena attached?

Yes — many of our equestrian builds combine the barn and arena under one continuous roof line. We can engineer the connection and the eave alignment in one design.

Do you build raised-center-aisle (RCA) barns?

Yes — RCA designs add clerestory windows that dramatically improve light and ventilation. They cost more but they're the gold standard for serious programs.
