Tips for Picking Colors You'll Love
Color sets the entire mood of your building. A few quick guidelines from the Triton design team to help you land on a combination you'll be proud of for decades.
Match the Surroundings
If you want the building to blend in, pick wall colors that echo your home, fences, or natural landscape. Earth tones — Tan, Clay, Hunter Green — disappear into rural settings beautifully.
Contrast for Pop
Want it to be a statement? Pair a dark roof (Burnished Slate, Black, Hunter Green) with light walls (Ivory, White, SandStone). The contrast frames the structure and makes it feel taller.
Light Walls = Cooler Inside
Lighter colors reflect more sunlight, which means cooler interior temperatures during summer. Great for unconditioned shops, barns, and storage in hot climates.
Trim Pulls It Together
Trim is a small surface but a huge visual cue. Use it to repeat your roof color on the walls, or pick a third color (like White) to outline doors, eaves, and corners cleanly.
Color reproduction varies. The swatches above are approximations for reference only — actual colors can vary based on your screen, printer, lighting, and panel finish. Order a free physical color card before finalizing your build.
Triton Color Questions, Answered
Honest answers about warranty length, fading, custom matches, and how to make sure your colors hold up for the long haul.
Can I mix and match roof, wall, and trim colors?
Absolutely. That's the point. Most Triton customers pick three different colors — one for the roof, one for the walls, and one for the trim. We can also do single-color buildings, two-tone walls (wainscot), and accent doors.
What's the difference between Standard and Premium colors?
Both lines use the same Galvalume substrate and high-performance paint systems. Standard colors carry a 10 to 40-year finish warranty depending on the color. Premium colors are guaranteed for the full 40 years and use richer, more fade-resistant pigments.
Will my color fade over time?
All exterior paint changes slowly with sun and weather. Triton's Galvalume-backed paint system is engineered to resist chalking, fading, and peeling for the duration of your finish warranty. Premium colors hold their saturation noticeably longer in high-UV regions.
Can I match an existing building or paint code?
Often, yes. Send us a photo or a paint chip and we'll match it to the closest color in our chart. For exact custom matches, ask about special-order colors when you call.
How accurate are the on-screen color swatches?
Use them as a guide, not a final decision. Screen brightness, color profile, and lighting all shift how a color looks. We recommend ordering a free color sample card or comparing in natural daylight before you finalize.
How long does it take to produce a custom color combination?
Standard color combinations ship on our normal lead time. Premium colors and special orders may add a short window depending on coil availability — your sales rep will confirm the exact dates when you place your order.
